PEUGEOT by CFAO: A wide-ranging partnership for more than 50 years

Ever since 1960, we have partnered PEUGEOT in its expansion throughout the continent of Africa - in Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Congo, Côte d'Ivoire, Gabon, Madagascar, Mali, Mauritania, Niger, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Sénégal and Chad - as well as further afield in New Caledonia.

Every one of these 13 countries has at least one PEUGEOT showroom presenting the range, and supported by a brand presence in most major cities. We also provide high-quality after-sales service delivered in specialist workshops by expert technicians who receive regular training at our PEUGEOT Training Centre in Côte d’Ivoire.

With the exception of New Caledonia, we market a range specially designed for African conditions, with a winning combination of strength, durability and driving pleasure: 301, 508, 2008, 3008, 4008, Partner (Combi and van) and Boxer.

In Senegal, the story begins in 1995, with CFAO’s acquisition of AFRICAUTO. Peugeot, the car for Africa has been the preferred choice of Senegal’s drivers for a very long time, despite the rise in popularity of 4x4s and pick-ups. The preference for Peugeot saloons has been handed down from generation to generation, thanks to the brand’s reputation for sturdiness and style gained and proven over many decades. CFAO imports and distributes tropicalised vehicles that are perfectly suited to the demands imposed by the climate, roads and tracks of Senegal. The latest 301, 508, 2008, 3008 and 4008 models symbolise the dynamic presence of Peugeot in Africa generally, an in Senegal in particular. As sole Peugeot importer and distributor, CFAO is investing in a new dealership in Dakar to promote the country’s favourite brand even more effectively.

The global benchmark for diesel performance and economy

As a pioneer in diesel technology, it was at the end of the 1990s that PEUGEOT launched its HDi (direct high-pressure injection) technology that reduces fuel consumption and CO2 emissions by more than 20%. To maintain this leadership, research and innovation continue to be major priorities, with particular emphasis on the environment, safety and connectivity. These technological advances are also applied to motorsport with impressive results, like the 908 HDi FAP that won the Le Mans 24-hour race in 2009.

A unique alliance of emotion and attention to detail

With a stylish restatement of its historic attributes of kerb appeal, unified design, feline agility and dynamic performance, PEUGEOT has launched an aggressive new campaign to conquer new markets. The brand has also launched a number of new models, including the 508 and new 308, the 3008 and 5008 crossovers, and accelerated introduction of the company’s new eco-technologies.

France’s leading car brand

The results of this new campaign are persuasive. In 2010, PEUGEOT consolidated its status as France’s leading car brand worldwide. It has also moved up the world rankings to ninth place, with year-on-year sales growth of more than 6%.
